Marilyn - On the entrance to Aspen, Mick if for the straight shot. Some see the split shot as a compromise. Others support incremental steps to ease traffic, such as reversible lanes on the present alignment, the only alternative consistent with the last vote in 2002 in which both the city and county voters voted to keep the entrance on the present alignment rather than moving it to the Marolt Park and the only alternative that is affordable. What is your position? Denny Vaughn.
Concerned--- Thanks for the Question--- Yes I will try to better consolidate. I'm doing this blog work myself, so it's a matter of finding the time to do it. Certainly is needed. I'll put it on my ever growing to do list. But I am going to try to move these disucssions to www.ElectMarilynMarks.com and leave the Ant a bit more space.
As for the position on the museum. Identical views with Elizabeth on that one. The Times has a letter to the editor from me that you will see in the near future. My many questions will be detailed there.
It is the exact view I expressed in to the Council during 1st and 2nd reading for the ballot issue. LOVE the new design from what I have seen. LOVE the concept of a free art museum. But, in my opinion, there are too many unkonwns to be voting to sell this important piece of property. The public has not had enough input. Give us the details of the deal and the potential alternative land uses the City has in mind, and THEN let the voters decide.
If I were fortunate enough to be elected, I would ask that all those public discussions take place over the summer and fall, and once the detiails were quite clear, and key negotiations concluded, take it back to a public vote as required by our Charter for a sale of land.
I agree with your position about the Art Museum. I guess we will learn more from their public meetings later this month. Certainly, many groups that meet in the current Rio Grande space are wondering if they will be able to meet in the new space. Also, what would the use be for the current Aspen Art Museum? And, do they have to mitigate for employee housing for new employees generated? Many questions remain unanswered...
As for you blog, I understand all of the technical logistics and I commend you for how well organized it is... Just, sometimes, I am not sure where to look for the latest comments -- under each issue or can they all be cumulative by date?
I know you have a lot on your plate and that is a minor consideration but I think the easier it is to access your views and ideas, the more successful your campaign can be!
Wishing you the very best because I hope you will be our new mayor!
I have lived in Aspen for five years and have owned a residence for over 20 years. I have heard about the entrence into Aspen for as long as I have been here. My gustion is that the entrance has worked for all that time. Sometimes it works better then other times, but it works, If it's not broke dont fix it. We have more pressing issues to addresss.
Thanks for the Entrance question. I am not ignoring it. I have a response I will post with some references to some recent work that has been done. Might be a couple of days before I get to that one.
I will have to say, Joe, that I think that most of the time (in good economic times) the S curves are broken. At this moment, I wouldn't mind seeing some traffic coming into Aspen! I do want to see the S-curves give way to one of the solutions that relieves the idling traffic. More on that later.

Marilyn,
I read Elizabeth's letter to the editor on the Museum/land purchase deal/upcoming vote. What is your position?
Also, can we better consolidate this blog?
